Saturday 2/May/2009

The Muslim community of Sydney was enlightened by al habib Umar’s arrival this morning. The organizing team and hosts (approaching 30 individuals) challenged a crisp, cool and calm fajr to welcome al habib Umar and his interpreters.

Following an introduction to one of Sydney’s most Muslim populated suburb, al habib Umar prayed duhr at Omar Mosque and followed it up with a lecture titled Islam and the role of the Youth. Approximately 400 men and 150 women absorbed the historic details of Ali bin abi Taleb, Bilal and abu bakr alsiddique and their efforts in portraying Islam in their time. Al habib Umar was then escorted through Rookwood cemetery where he visited Islamic graves dating back to 1912. Al habib made dua for our brothers and sisters with about 20 receiving a personalized dua.

The first of our purification lessons begun at Gallipoli mosque with 400 brothers and 250 sisters filling up 80% of the mosque. The setting replicated the group teaching sessions of the dowrahs of Dar Al Mustafa with students reading from a sacred text and al habib providing detailed explanations, recommendations and delivering his wisdom with prayers for the attendees, broader community and the hosting mosque committee. Of specific mention al habib mentioned that the believer is the mirror of a believer who sees in his brother good character and realizes noble and virtuous qualities.

Al habib then visited lakemba mosque for a lecture titled The masjid; the key to the heart of a Muslim, where Imam Taj Al deen al Hilali introduced al Habib as an honorable daai, aalim, faqih with a lineage to rasullah (s.a.w.). al habib commented on the reading of a sacred text mentioning the following: that the believer who prostrates with any degree of harmful intention to others or pride is as though he’s performed no prostration, that one who delays his prayer has their name written on a door in hellfire and that Allah (s.w.t.) looks upon the heart of a believer when they enter the mosque. He also mentioned that rasulallah (s.a.w) saw rahmah descending upon the believers, who are remembering Allah (s.w.t.). Allah (s.w.t.) boasts upon the malaikah for the believers who are in remembrance of Allah. Al habib recommended the humbling of oneself to Allah (s.w.t) when present in the mosque.
