Al habib travelled this morning to meet the Muslim community of Brisbane. He started his day at the research unit at Griffith University with an introduction to current projects and staff initiatives. Al habib delivered words of advice of which he gave the following recommendations to obtain purification of the heart:1. glorifying the obligatory actions ( this may be through performing prayer in congregation, having a connection to Allah (s.w.t.) which may involve one inducing themselves in this initially, lowering ones gaze from that which provokes desires, being chaste and reading Koran daily), 2. dikr in the morning and afternoon, 3. reciting ayat alkursi on ones entering, exiting a dwelling, before sleep, on waking and with every salat, 4. friendships that encourage good deeds, and 5. control of ones tongue from any talk of transgression and inciting of others. His advice for preparing ones self for kiyam was to read the tasbeeh of Fatimah, recite the last ayat of surat al kahf, do istigfar prior to sunset and to make sure that ones activities in the day are pure as this will reduce the likelihood of misdeeds that will carry on to oneself.
Duhr was then prayed at Brisbane Islamic College with 300 of its students in attendance. Al habib mentioned that a student seeking knowledge is one who also does kiyam and are in the prayers in jamaa from the first takbeer.
Griffith University’s multifaith centre then hosted al habib for a lecture which attracted to members of the Christian and Jewish communities and various other individuals who have an interest in cultural harmony. There were approximately 200 attendees. Al habibs talk enlightened attendees about the role of the soul in the shaping of ones interpretation and implementation of their religious values. He mentioned that a soul that has a dominant influence on an individual, gives one forebearingness and is one that allows them to control their desires and suppress their anger. The pursuing Q and A session was a valuable period in which the audience clearly and thoroughly was provided with vital missing pieces in their puzzle of understanding Islam.
At Kuraby Mosque, both top and bottom levels of the masjid were overfilled with believers. Al habib mentioned that one’s heart can only be saleem if it’s free from envy, ostentation and arrogance. He mentioned that a Muslim who is happy with the blessings of his brother will get a similar blessing from Allah (s.w.t.). he mentioned two dua that one may recite: (ya mukalib alkuloob walabsar, thabit kuloobana ala deennik) and (ya hayu ya kayoom la illaha ila ant).
