Friday 8/May/2009Al Habib started his day at South Granville musala with Fajr and his daily lesson (fyi, the Thursday and Friday Fajr lessons were both professionally filmed and inshallah will be produced for your viewing). He was then interviewed by Voice of Islam about some controversial questions being voiced in the community locally and internationally. This was followed by an interview by SBS world news whose focus ended up being al Habib’s’ opinion about terrorism, extremism and his thoughts pertaining to the Popes allegations about Islam. You can listen to the radio interview here. The Jumma prayer was then conducted at Lakemba Mosque where al Habib was united with a former brother, Omar, who had passed away from a unique medical condition during the Tour. Al Habib made a moving prayer for the brother, prayed his Janazah and then asked for his name for special mention on his return to Tarim. You can listen to the khutbah here. Lunch was then spent with his former students with a discussion pertaining to the future of dawa and Ilm delivery in Australia and how this could be incorporated with Daar al Mustafa. Friday ended with specific prophetic zikr. The tour and community main event at Riverside provided a calm, spiritual climax to al Habib’s teachings for the busy week. With 770 individuals filling the auditorium, we were entertained by anasheeds and listened respectfully to a recitation of the Quran and then a valuable reminder from Sheik Yahya Rhodus. As usual al Habib’s address can never be adequately summarized and so we won’t spoil the Message to the People of Australia and state that inshallah you can hear it for yourself on the DVD. Al Habib left for Melbourne on Saturday morning. He continuously reiterated his appreciation, respect and perceived brotherhood from Australia’s Muslims. Of all his international visits, al Habib felt as strong feeling of hope and scope for the development of Dawa and Ilm for Australia with the intention of future visits to our shores inshallah.
