What are your recommendations for dealing with our children in our Western society? Raising your children especially as they approach adolescence and they become legally responsible is one of the greatest acts of jihad that is imposed upon you in this land and is one of the greatest ways you can protect and preserve islam and to attain contentment of your lord and that its done with mercy and gentleness and to have resolve and to explain matters and have them accept this. Who doesn’t convince their children in a judicious manner and is negligent and forgiving of all may be a means for destruction of them and if they are destroyed by this it'll put them in state of destruction in next world. One of the things rasul Allah inform us of the next world is that families and children will gather to the necks of their parents and will ask Allah to give their right of the oppressor. The parent will say that i sheltered fed them and gave them drink. They will say thats true but you didn’t teach us the way of our deen. It'll be said to take him and his family to the fire because of the negligence of the commands of Allah. Those that force things and are harsh upon their children are forgetful of being merciful and gentle and will push them with aversion (especially with many other enticements taking them away).So we must join between these things and increase supplication to Allah and try to chose good companions for them. The greatest things one leaves behind is a righteous child who makes Dua for them and this is of the actions of the individual that continues on after they pass because they were a means for the existence of the child and raised them. May Allah gaze upon us and our children and allow us to be felicitous |
