| How do you avoid the Haram? |
|
Habib Umar answers some FAQS - this is a transcript of the Lecture delivered at Melbourne University in 2009.
How do you avoid the Haram? Develop a desire to be with those who are beloved to Allah; So that if one developed longing to see the face of Muhammad (saw), Allah will prepare his eye for that vision. Every time he has an ability to look at something terrible, one will think in those moments that one had an ability to look at a desirable view that is impermissible and that they are going to lose the pleasure of seeing what is worthy of seeing eternally. So one leaves that which perishes for that which lasts. One leaves what is worthless for what is great. Their true jihad is to regulate how they interact with themselves and the thoughts that come to their heart. One should do this using all forms of technology, books, cds, magazines. One must use discretion for what comes to them or turn it away. What will help them is to take a portion of remembrance of Allah and taking good companions. We advise them to realise the greatness of their duty and realise the greatness of the one who created them from nothing. He sees them, whether they want or not. They will return to him and they should rely on him and if asked, he will give them assistance. I ask Allah to take of our youth in the hand especially and the children and elders too and the attendees of the gathering and the listeners and followers of it and the rest of muslims in this city and Australia and every where else. |
